Win-win is not the solution to every negotiation, but it is often the best method to achieve superior and sustainable value at the lowest risk. It can be challenging to anticipate the value of a win-win strategy. The more inexperienced negotiators do not know what win-win is supposed to look like. The more experienced ones may have seen poor win-win samples where win-win was weak. We are not naïve negotiators hoping that our counterparties will reciprocate if we act nice.
